Chris Pool,

Chicago's Mike Kafka is the best quarterback in the Midwest that nobody is talking about. Kafka has so much talent and upside that two schools have now offered a scholarship without seeing senior film.

Chicago (St. Rita) quarterback Mike Kafka (6-3, 185) was used primarily as a wide receiver last year and that’s exactly why he hadn’t received any scholarship offers in May.

Watching Kafka work out in Chicago at the MSL/TheInsiders combine in March, it was easy to see that this young man was the total package and a future D-1 gunslinger.

After Kafka helped lead the St. Rita to a state play-off appearance in baseball, he hit the road on the summer football camp circuit.

One Big Ten assistant coach told us that Mike Kafka has more upside than any other quarterback in the Midwest including Dustin Sherer and Evan Sharpley. That’s saying a lot.

Kafka has now received his first two of what will definitely be several scholarship offers.

Northwestern and Stanford have both offered me now,” said Kafka. “I camped at both schools. Stanford offered after camp last week.

“I camped at Northwestern a few weeks ago but they didn’t offer after camp. They sent a letter in the mail a few days ago.”

Iowa, Purdue, Michigan State, Bowling Green and Northern Illinois join the Wildcats and Cardinal as favorites for Kafka.

Mike Kafka is the #44 prospect in the Midwest Hot 100
