Hinsdale (Central) defensive end
Doug Pilcher
talks about his scholarship offers and his favorites. Does Pilcher have a leader? Will he even play college football? Take a look.
Doug Pilcher
, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end from Hinsdale (Ill.) Central started on the varsity for the first time as a junior but he made the most of it.
Pilcher had eight sacks for the Red Devils and he also started on the offensive side of the ball as a tight end.
"I practiced with the varsity as a freshman," said Pilcher. "I was brought up to the varsity as a sophomore for the play-offs but I didn't start on the varsity until last year.
"I have scholarship offers from
Illinois
,
Indiana
,
Northwestern
and
Northern Illinois
.
"My favorites would be those schools that have offered me and probably any of the Big Ten schools.
"
Purdue
,
Iowa
and
Michigan State
would all be high on my list."
Pilcher is also a super baseball player and he will get drafted next year in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
Pilcher and Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove defensive end
J.B. Paxson
will both have to choose between football and baseball next year.
If Pilcher does pick football, which position will he play in college?
"Most schools are recruiting me as a defensive end," Pilcher said. "Some are saying tight end but I'll probably end up on the defensive line."
Doug Pilcher was named all-area as a junior. He carries a 4.6 GPA and scored a 29 on his ACT.
