Tennessee WR/TE Patrick Turner (6-5, 210, 4.6) says Tennessee (camp) and Miami (visited) lead slightly over Florida, USC, LSU, Texas and Oklahoma. All have offered as well as Michigan, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Mississippi and Ohio State. All schools are recruiting him as WR.
"Tennessee is my hometown school--they're close by," says Turner, of Madison Goodpasture. "Coach (Phillip) Fulmer is a legend and they've got a good coaching staff. Coach (Pat) Washington (WRs) is a real good recruiting coach. Their program is huge--about 108,000 people show up for the games. The fans there are crazy. They've got an offense that has always produced good WRs, and they get top rated QBs to go there. I think the atmosphere there is really supportive and that's a huge thing for me.
"Miami has a great program that has been so dominant. And I like the hot weather down there. You know that if you go to Miami that you're going to win there and there's not a chance that you wouldn't. They produce good players and I want to win.
"Florida has a great offense. They're known down south for producing good WRs and I think it would be a good place to play. Plus a rivalry game between Florida and Miami would be huge.
"USC has a good program going on over there. They have an explosive offense and they like to pass the ball. That's pretty much what I'm looking for. The coaching staff there is down-to-earth and it's USC--they know what they're doing and they have a great tradition. Coaches Pete Carroll and (Todd) McNair (RBs) are great guys. And the WRs coach (Lane) Kiffin recently came to one of my games and we got to talking about taking a visit there.
"LSU is coming off a great season and they always have good wide outs. Coach (Nick) Saban is an all-around good person making his players part of his family. The coaches want to get me down there and they tell me that I'd be good for their offense."
Turner will officially visit USC (9/10), Oklahoma, Florida, Miami and Texas. He says he's been to Tennessee enough to know he will not go there for an official visit and LSU is close enough to drive to.
