It seems like it just takes that one offer and the avalanche begins. Bradenton (Fla.) Lakewood Ranch…
Lineman Dominates Foes
Pity the defensive lineman that must lineup across Tyler Rice of Bradenton (Fla.) Lakewood Ranch on Friday nights. The past three games, Rice has recorded a mind-boggling 33 pancake blocks grabbing the interest of quite a few division I-A programs. "I've gotten calls from UCF, USF, New Mexico, the Citadel, Ole Miss, and Eastern Kentucky," stated Rice, who does own an offer from Central Florida. "They were just telling me about their school and how they liked how I played. They liked how I got after people and the way I punished people once I got my hands on them." Most of the interested schools are waiting to see where the chips land with other recruits and/or how Rice looks consistently throughout his senior season. However, one school – the only school to extend an offer – isn't taking their time. "The coach from UCF had the offensive line coach call me this past Sunday," remarked Rice. "He said once we establish a relationship where we feel comfortable working with one another they are going to ask me to commit. Coach Gilbert, the offensive line coach for UCF, is going to attend a few of my practices. All the other schools are just really interested in me but haven't talked about offers yet." Despite the flattering offer from UCF to pledge to the Golden Knights early, Rice doesn't believe he will commit anytime soon. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound offensive lineman is, however, looking very closely at seven schools. "My top seven in no particular order is: South Carolina, Florida, USF, UCF, Ole Miss, N.C. State, and UNC," Rice said. "I want to take my visits and go from there." Rice, as well as his teammates, will have to bring their A-game this Friday as they meet their true test in the number one ranked school in the state, Naples (Fla.) High School.
