Chris Pool,

Northwestern University has done a super job recruiting so far in 2003. The Wildcats already have verbal commitments for three of the “Top 100” prospects in the Midwest and this past weekend they landed another super prospect in Morris, Illinois offensive lineman Ramon Diaz.

“I committed to Northwestern,” said Ramon Diaz.

“Once Northwestern offered me I didn’t feel that I needed to wait any longer to make my decision.

“I wanted to go to Iowa I got tired of being strung along by them. Northwestern has a great location. My family will be able to come see me play.

“Northwestern has a great education. My parents always taught me the importance of education. I always had to do my school work before I played sports.

“Northwestern is always competitive in the Big Ten. They’ve been going to bowl games and I like the coaching staff.”

Randy Walker and his staff are definitely getting another steal here. Diaz is as good as any lineman in the state of Illinois except for maybe Dace Richardson and he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Diaz is 6-foot-5 and a solid 275-pounds.He’s a dominating run blocker that doesn’t have any fat on his body. Ramon Diaz has the ability to be an All-Big Ten selection in the near future.
