Calif WR DeSean Jackson, ranked by Scout.com as the nation's #7 WR, still says California leads USC, but now describes the schools as "neck and neck."
"I'd say Cal (11/20 official trip) has just a slight lead over SC (childhood fave). They have a lot of WRs leaving at Cal and I could have a big impact there," says Jackson. "I like their offense too…and coach (Jeff) Tedford. They have a good scheme and they get their WRs the ball. Tedford is a down-to-earth guy and a pretty good dude. He's recruiting me hard.
"SC is the #1 team in the country. They are right here in my home-town and I think I could make a big impact there too, probably as a slot WR, where I would run more inside routes, using my speed. I might visit USC for the Notre Dame game (11/27) but I'm not sure if I want to use up a trip for SC. Coach (Ed) Orgeron is recruiting me."
Jackson says his other faves are Oklahoma, LSU (11/12 official trip) and Arizona State. "I don't know who else I'll officially visit except Cal, LSU and maybe USC. Ohio State is actually recruiting me the hardest.
"I won't decide until late Jan," concludes the youngster from Long Beach Poly.
