RB Maurice Wells from Jacksonville Sandalwood (FL) has already taken two official visits (USC and Maryland) and has two more set up to Georgia Tech (12/17) and Ohio State(11/20).
He visited USC on 10/8 and was at Maryland this past weekend (10/30). His host was true freshman Chris Varner and Maurice was the only recruit on an official visit. "The game against Florida State was awesome," said Wells. "A lot of people doubted Maryland, but they came out and pretty much dominated.
"I flew into Maryland on Sat morning and got to tour the city. It was real nice. The campus is cool and it was a lot of fun hanging out with the players after the game. I got to talk to Ray Lewis' little brother, Keon Lattimore. He's from Florida too, but he loves the area there. Everyone says the location is the best because it's so close to DC and Baltimore. I also love my opportunity to play early there.
"My visit to USC was good too. L.A. is different. They are pretty much in downtown, but I liked Hollywood and Beverly Hills a lot. The people weren't too different. They are really easy to get along with, just like at Maryland. Los Angeles and Baltimore are both really busy and fast-paced.
"I'm really impressed with USC because they are #1 and are undefeated. They've had some tough games and have beaten some good teams. I've been really impressed with all of my favorites though. Maryland just had a great win over Florida State and Georgia Tech is improving. Ohio State has a couple of bad games, but I'm not worried about them.
Maurice favors USC, Maryland, Georgia Tech and Ohio State solidly over Florida State, Notre Dame and North Carolina. All have offered. He has over 20 total offers.
"I'll try to take my final visit to either Notre Dame, Florida State or North Carolina. Right now Georgia Tech and Ohio State seem to be recruiting me the hardest. They send the most mail and we talk the longest. Maryland is also showing a lot of interest too. I like Georgia Tech because they are in the ACC and will be needing a RB.
"Once I feel like I've found the place for me I'll commit. I haven't set any kind of timetable or anything. There's gonna be competition everywhere, but I want to be able to play early for a program that is going somewhere. I want to contribute on a successful team. Competition doesn't scare me because I feel I’m the best player out there."
Eight game (6-2) season stats: 1300 yds rushing/12 TDs. Missed two games with hip pointer.
