"My trip to Tennessee was good and I liked it a lot," said in-state TE Jeff Cottam, Scout.com's #7 TE. "My brother Brad Cottam (TE) was my host. We hung out at his apartment and played some video games..."

Germantown (TN) TE Jeff Cottam (6-7, 255, 4.75, 4 stars) now says Tennessee (11/27 official trip) leads slightly over Ole Miss (12/10 official trip), Alabama (11/13 official trip), Auburn and Notre Dame. Previously, Jeff had Mississippi and Tennessee tied for the lead.

"Tennessee is my leader for right now," says Cottam. "And Ole Miss and Alabama are tied for my #2 spot.

"My trip to Tennessee was good and I liked it a lot. My brother Brad Cottam (TE) was my host. We hung out at his apartment and played some video games and stuff the first night I was there. I got to talk with the coaching staff a lot, and ate some good meals.

"I'd say the highlight of the trip was talking with coach (Greg) Atkins (TEs/OLs) about how I'd fit in with the program. He's a straightforward guy and he seems like a good coach, and I like what he's done with the program in the past.

"The game they played against Kentucky was pretty close, and I didn't think it would be like that. I guess they finally stuck it out for a win in the end.

"I like the stadium there and the fact that it's in-state is nice. They've got a great winning tradition and some crazy fans. Before this year and last year, they passed to their TE quite a bit. I hope that's something they try to get back to. I really hope that's the case.

"Ole Miss is real close and I grew up a fan of them. Over the past couple years I've gotten close with the coaching staff there. I'd have a good spot on the team for some early playing time if I went down there and played.

"I could also get some PT at Alabama early in my college career. I like the atmosphere there and the fans…they're all real nice and that kind of thing. I like how they throw to the TE and put him into motion a lot. They usually throw to their TE in most of their games.

Other offers include North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Missouri and Kentucky. Final SR (10-4) stats: 15 catches/200+ yds/2 FC/no TDs; 80+ tackles/7 sacks.

3.0/23 ACT/no retest
