K Jonathan Phillips

Jonathan Phillips, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound kicker from Wellington, Florida is considered one of the top prospects at his position in the entire nation. Phillips told Scout.com that he recently visited a Big Ten school and gave them his verbal commitment.

"I visited Purdue (11/20) when they played Indiana." Jonathan Phillips said.

"I've given them (Purdue) my verbal commitment. I liked the direction of the program, I think Purdue could have a shot at winning a national championship while I'm there and I wanted to be a part of that.

"Purdue is also a strong academic school and that was also one of the reasons why I picked them. I'll probably major in engineering."

Phillips is a three-year varsity starter. His long field goal in high school was 47-yards. He kicked a 67-yard field goal in practice.

Phillips, in his career, was 18-for-21 inside the 45-yard line. A solid get for the Boilermakers.
