San Antonio, Texas-
as the events surrounding the U.S. Army All-American Bowl take place this week, the Scout.com network has full exclusive access to all of them. We will get some time to sit down with all of these outstanding young men, and hear there thoughts on the game, recruiting, and everything in between. Our first Q&A is with Hampton (Va.) Phoebus four-star running back Elan Lewis, 5-8 and 214-pounds. Lewis committed to Virginia Tech back in August.
Bob Lichtenfels:
How does it feel to be surrounded by the best high school football talent in the nation?
Elan Lewis
:
They are all different kinds of people but they seem no different from anyone else.
BL:
Do you follow the type of work that we do at Scout.com, rankings and evaluations?
EL:
Yeah, I do but I do not get real worried about ratings. Most people's minds are set and your not going to change them. I just love to play football and that is what I worry about.
BL:
Are you coming into this game with the mindset that it is business or pleasure?
EL:
I am coming here to play football with the best players in the country; this is the best in the nation coming together to play.
BL:
How did it feel when you were selected for the game?
EL:
It is an honor to be here,
Xavier Adibi
was selected from my school two years ago, but he could not play due to an injury. It is as if we have a tradition starting now.
BL:
Are you nervous about the game, and the fact that it is broadcast on national television?
EL:
I feel a little pressure; everyone around me is expecting me to be a star.
BL:
Do you mean your peers, or family?
EL:
Everyone, my teammates, family, coaches, everyone.
BL:
How do you feel about
Virginia Tech
's recruiting class so far?
EL:
I do not want to sound cocky but they got Victor "Macho" Harris,
Kenny Jefferson
, some real big lineman, and me. I think it is a real good class.
BL:
How would you rate Virginia Tech's success this season?
EL:
They did real good, this was supposed to be considered a rebuilding year.
BL:
Thanks for your time, and good luck this next weekend at the game.
EL:
Your welcome.
