One of the most intriguing prospects in San Antonio is defensive back Garrett Seeger. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder, from Barrington, Illinois doesn’t have the amount of scholarship offers that the rest of the All-Americans have but he does have a lot of heart.

“I’m having a lot of fun out here,” said Seeger. “There’s been a big learning curve for me. I have to learn quick out here. Everything happens fast.”

What are the biggest things that Seeger has had to learn about playing defensive back at this level?

“At this level of competition, you have to know when to turn your hips and run with the receivers.” Seeger said.

“You have to know the different ins and outs of coverage as well as when to turn your hips and run with the receivers. A lot of playing defensive back is just feel.”

There were a couple of defensive backs who were banged up in practice for the East Squad and that has helped Seeger get some much needed reps in preparation for the U.S. Army All-American game on Saturday.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is played in San Antonio, Texas., at the Alamodome on Jan. 15, 2005, and broadcast nationally on NBC at 1 p.m., Eastern. Scout.com is a sponsor, the official selection partner and exclusive on-line partner of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, as well as the associated U.S. Army Combine for underclassmen.

Garrett made a couple of nice plays defending passes in 7-on-7 drills on Wednesday and he also made a couple of nice hits during goal line scrimmage.

Who has impressed Seeger on the offensive side of the ball for the East this week?

Patrick Turner and Nyan Boateng are both good receivers. Everyone is really good here. The linebackers are all big and fast.”

The amount of exposure that Garrett Seeger will receive from this game is priceless. He has visited Air Force and the Falcons have a good shot at landing Garrett in February. Cornell (1/29) and Boston College (1/29) are bringing him in for a visit in January.
