Focus '06 - Maurice Hill (DL)

In 2005, a prospect to keep an eye on will be Maurice Hill, a 6-foot-2, 265-pounder, from Bolingbrook, Illinois. Hill has been on the varsity at "The Brook" since his sophomore year and most college coaches are telling him he could play either defensive end or defensive tackle at the next level.

"I've had a lot of compliments on Maurice," said Raiders head coach John Ivlow.

"Illinois and Eastern Michigan like Maurice a lot. He's a big, strong kid, with a lot of upside. He could play on either side of the ball in college.

"Maurice is a converted fullback, so he does have some athleticism. He's the type of prospect where the college coaches will have to decide where he fits in their system."

Does Maurice have any scholarship offers yet?

"I don't have any offers yet," Hill said. "I'm getting a lot of letters. Ball State seems the most interested right now.

"My favorites are Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Notre Dame and Michigan. I'm camping at Minnesota, Iowa and Notre Dame this summer."

What does Hill bring to the table as a defensive lineman?

"I was told that I have a quick first step," said Hill. "I bring versatility to the table. I could play anywhere on the defensive line and I could also move to offense. I played fullback, so I can also be used for short-yardage blocking situations."

Hill is a weight-room warrior. He benches 400 and squats 615 pounds. He's also solid in the classroom, carrying a 3.0 GPA.

EXTRA POINT - Bolingbrook is always a school that has talent. "The Brook" has about four D-1 prospects in 2005 plus they have perhaps the best sophomore RB in the Midwest as well. Recommended Stories
