There are several solid quarterbacks in the Buckeye State this year but the best signal caller in Ohio is only a sophomore. We’ve seen film of this up and coming star and he’s scheduled to be at Scout.com's Akron combine in May. | |||

Chris Smith, a 6-foot-3, 215-pounder, from South Point already has the likes of Steve Spurrier and Pete Carroll in his sights. Smith put together quite an impressive highlight tape and after watching it and talking with my colleagues at Scout.com, we felt that Smith was the best quarterback in Ohio. Problem was we didn’t realize Chris was only a sophomore. Smith has tremendous arm strength. He already has a D-1 body and he reminds me a whole bunch of Drew Henson. Smith is always in control, he makes good decisions. He throws with touch, with zip and he can run. There’s no doubt that he’ll have his pick of schools next season. “Right now I’m hearing from Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama and Marshall,” Chris Smith said. “My coach gets a lot of stuff at school but right now I’m not paying to much attention to it. My focus has been on track. We asked Smith if he grew up a fan of any certain school. “I really never had one school that I pulled for or had to watch every week,” Smith explained. Maybe Ohio State sticks out more than others. “I live on like the borders of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, so I’ve seen a lot of Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio State games. “The schools I like the most right now are Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida and USC.” Chris Smith plans on camping at Ohio State and Georgia this summer. |
