Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville cornerback Raymond Small is next in a long line of D-1 prospects the Tarblooders and head coach Ted Ginn have produced. Small has offers from several perennial powers but it’s going to be tough to pry him from the Buckeye State.
“I have scholarship offers from
Ohio State
,
USC
, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State,
Iowa
,
LSU
, Ball State and Akron.”
Ray Small
said.
“There could be a few more (offers) but those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.
“I grew up a fan of Ohio State and they are leading right now. My other favorites are Iowa, USC, LSU and
Florida
.”
Small is one of the best athletes that I’ve personally seen on film this year. He attacks the football on defense and he makes plays on offense. We asked Coach Ginn what Raymond brings to the table on Friday nights.
“Ray (Small) could play either position,” Coach Ginn said when asked if Small projects as a cornerback or wide receiver at the next level.
“Ray has been starting for us since his sophomore year. As a cornerback, he has good recovery, great hips and he’s quick as a cat. Ray has that first step that you can’t teach.”
Small knows exactly when he’ll be making his college decision and who will help with that decision.
“I’m going to wait until February,” Small said. “My father, brother and my uncle are the people that I’m going to rely on when it comes to making my decision.”
As a junior, Small had 533 yards receiving and 300 yards rushing. He scored 10 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Raymond racked up 50 tackles and 4 interceptions.
