Leslie Stirrups is one of the top defensive tackle recruits from the state of Florida and he has the offers to prove it. According to Stirrups FSU, Florida, Miami, South Florida, Nebraska, Tennessee, Iowa State and others have offered him a scholarship. For now, he likes six with one at the top.
“I grew up a Miami fan,” said Stirrups. “I just have always been a fan of the ‘Canes. I like their colors, their defense and their coaches. Man that defense is always fast.
”I also like Florida, Miami, Tennessee, LSU, Iowa State, and Georgia.
”With Florida I like the Swamp and the coaching staff. They treat everyone like family.
”FSU plays aggressive defense and I like the coaching staff too.
“I like how Tennessee plays defense too. The school is great and the facilities are nice from what I gather.
“LSU is showing interest but they have not offered. Their facilities are nice and I like that staff. If I leave the state of Florida, LSU would be a great place to be.
“Iowa State is a team I like and they play hard.
“Georgia always plays good defense, they play hard and they are just a good program.”
Stirrups, 6-1 and 275 pounds, recorded 56 tackles, six sacks and six tackles for a loss last season as a junior. He had ten tackles in their spring game against Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit High School. Stirrups will camp at Miami this weekend and he hopes to camp at Florida this summer as well. He also hopes to play college football with his current high school quarterback, Jarred Fayson.
“We are planning to go to the same school together. I sure hope it works out that way.”
