The East has reloaded this year with tremendous talent at the top and deep again throughout the region.
East Hot 100
Headlined by
Myron Rolle
, a safety from the Hun School in Princeton, N.J., who is contending for the Scout.com number one prospect in the nation, the East region has many tremendous defensive backs.
Antwine Perez
is a knock-your-block-off safety with a ton of upside and schools from across the nation after him.
Percy Harvin
(right), the skill position most valuable player at January’s U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio, plays much like Derrick Williams, a wideout who signed with Penn State last year, in using his acceleration after cuts and sheer speed to become a game breaker. In the Virginia state championship game, the Landstown wide receiver totaled over 500 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.
While Harvin is a speed receiver,
Vidal Hazelton
is a physical receiver that loves to go up for the ball, but still has the speed to run past defensive backs. Out of Staten Island (N.Y.) Moore Catholic High School, Hazelton earned offensive most valuable player honors at the Elite College Combine in New Jersey against some of the best competition on the East Coast.
Across the nation, the offensive line is deep and two bookend tackles sit among the best in the East with future Florida Gator right tackle
Carl Johnson
(Southern Durham, N.C.) and future left tackle
Cliff Geathers
(left) from Carvers Bay in Georgetown, S.C. Maryland commitment Antonio Logan-El,
Bruce Campbell
, the top prospect from the New England states, and
Jared Odrick
are long-armed, quick tackles, followed by the top guard prospect
J.B. Walton
whose jump off the ball is second to none.
This year the East is loaded with talent at many positions, but the one position with the biggest dropoff is at quarterback. The state of Pennsylvania has the top three quarterbacks in the region, much as it did two years ago. This time with
Zach Frazer
out of Mechanicsburg (Pa.) Area High, who is already verbally committed to Notre Dame, Elite College Combine quarterback MVP
Pat Devlin
(right) from Downington (Pa.) West, and gunslinger
Jeremy Ricker
who is also out of Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt.
