This is a tough year to be an offensive lineman in the state of Illinois. Having to be compared to Army All-American’s Dan Doering and Dace Richardson at every turn could get quite frustrating. Plainfield’s Perry Dorrestein (6-7, 285, 5.3) has the potential to be a very productive offensive tackle at the next level. Several schools are interested in his services.
“I have scholarship offers from
Northern Illinois
,
Toledo
,
Western Michigan
,
Central Michigan
,
Ball State
and
Buffalo
.” Said
“My favorites are
Michigan
,
Notre Dame
,
Purdue
,
Northwestern
,
Nebraska
,
Indiana
and Central Michigan.
“I camped at Purdue, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Michigan this summer. I probably learned the most at Notre Dame because I was there for four days.
“Michigan is interested. They want me to send tape of my first two games this year. So does Nebraska and Purdue.
“I had a great time at Northwestern. I learned a lot of helpful technique drills from Coach (James) Patton. I also had the chance to speak with some academic counselors at Northwestern and I took a tour of the campus.
What does
Perry Dorrestein
have planned for the month of July?
“July is a lifting month,” Dorrestein explained. “We had a team camp that just finished up and I’ll be in the weight-room the rest of the month.
“I’ve made all my unofficial visits and I’ve done the camp thing, now its time to start focusing on my team.”
Dorrestein graded out at 90% in his blocking assignments as a junior. He had 25 pancake blocks. 4.5GPA/ test unreported.
Extra Point
-- Even though
Illinois
hasn’t offered Dorrestein, they are very interested. As of now, Perry has no interest in the Illini. He visited Champaign earlier in the year. He does have a sister that attends Illinois. If Notre Dame or Michigan offers during the season, it’s a good bet he’ll end up at those schools.
