Rawlins-Crivello talks about pledge

Scout.com spoke Tuesday with Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha DE/OLB Kapono Rawlins-Crivello, and he confirmed his verbal commitment to the Boise State Broncos. He knew that something might be up after his top-notch play at the All-Poly camp in Bountiful, Utah and it was reaffirmed when he backed it up at the Just Win camp in Maui.
"I had a feeling because of all the coaches I talked to at the All-Poly camp," Rawlins-Crivello told Scout.com. BSU coach Vili Tuivai was volunteering there and definitely took notice. "But most told me they wanted to see my senior season and go from there. I was expecting some offers to come in the middle of the season.
"But Coach Vili saw me at the Just Win camp and he told me that he really liked my passion and that he likes to be around players that have as big a passion for the game as he does," Kapono added. "He said I would fit right in."
And when the Broncos recently sent a scholarship his way, it was an offer Kapono could not refuse. "I saw it as an opportunity to play college football and get a free education too," said Rawlins-Crivello. "I really like what Coach Vili had to say about the program. It's a great program from what I've seen."
Rawlins-Crivello has never stepped foot in the Gem State before, and he most likely won't until after Kamehameha's season is done. And while Kapono wants to stay true to his commitment he did admit that there's one school out there that would definitely catch his attention were they to offer.
"It's UCLA," he said. What is it about the Bruins that has Rawlins-Crivello curious? "The education," he said, matter-of-factly. "I'm dead set on being a Bronco, but I'm not closing any doors either.
"I'm leaving it in God's hands."
What's in BSU's hands is just how they plan to use the talented defender. "I'm going to be like a rush end, but it'll be in a 3-4 setup," Rawlins-Crivello said. "So I'll be used like a linebacker and go out in pass coverage too."
