Carey, 5-11, 190 pounds played just about everywhere last season including running back, wide receiver, cornerback, free safety, punter and even held on PATs and fielgoals.
Offensively, Carey rushed 65 times for 839 yards (12.9 yard ave.), caught 22 passes for 360 yards (16.4 yard ave.) and had 22 total touchdowns. On defense, he totaled 56 tackles and eight interceptions, one he returned for a score. Carey also returned a fumble for a touchdown and added three more scores on kick and punt returns.
The athlete earned League MPV and South Sound Area Player of the Year honors for his efforts.
On the recruiting front, Carey is hearing from all of the Pac 10 plus Ohio State, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Notre Dame and the Ivy League. His mother attended Washington and his dad went to San Diego State but neither leads for talented Northwest star at this time.
“Oregon is my top school followed by Washington, Arizona State, USC, UCLA and Stanford,” Carey said. “I’m looking for a school with the best combination of academics and athletics. No one has offered yet but hopefully after the summer I’ll have some options.”
Carey will camp at Washington, Oregon and Arizona State and will also attend the Nike Camp in Eugene. Academically, he's carrying a 3.62 GPA and will take the SAT in May. He would like to major in Sports Medicine.
