Philadelphia (Pa.) West Catholic wide receiver John Maddox (6-3, 170, 4.6) along with head Coach [Brian] Fluck are putting the finishing touches on a journey that has taken them to Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Akron, Notre Dame, and Purdue. Maddox will finish his tour tomorrow in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Pittsburgh: “Pitt offered me in the middle of July,” Maddox said. I was there Monday, it was a good visit. The campus was very nice; there are a lot of hills around there. The coaches were real cool especially the wide receivers coach Aubrey Hill. I thought it was pretty neat how they share their facilities with the Pittsburgh Steelers.”
Michigan State: “I got to eat lunch with another former West Catholic player Michael Bazemore that was cool. The coaches there are nice. I’ve been there before so there really wasn’t anything new.”
Akron: “They had a real nice campus. Everything was really close it’s like five minutes to get from one class to the other.”
Notre Dame: “The stadium and the new weight room are very nice. I got to eat with my boy Derrell Hand. He got real big, not fat just big. This was also my second trip to Notre Dame.”
Purdue:”I got to walk around the campus. They had a little reggae festival behind our hotel that was cool. The coaches there were really don to earth and made me feel wanted.
When we spoke to Maddox he was on his way to Morgantown. He will spend the night there and then check out the Mountaineers program tomorrow.
