Chris Pool,

Safety Joe Gibson out of Chicago (Brother Rice) is a prospect that college coaches will be keeping an eye on in 2005-'06. Gibson put up some impressive numbers as a junior and was named all-conference and all-area. The 6-foot-1, 183-pounder, talks recruiting with

“I don’t have any scholarship offers right now,” Joe Gibson said.

“I’ve had a lot of schools contact me in the spring and I’ve visited a lot of schools during the spring and the summer.

“Most of the schools that I’ve been in contact with, just want to see the first two games from my senior season.

“My favorites are Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Air Force and Ball State.”

Gibson had 32 solo tackles and 6 interceptions from his free safety position as a junior. He also scored four touchdowns as a wide receiver and rushed for a couple of touchdowns as well.

Gibson is a hard-nosed, Chicago Catholic League, football player. After watching Gibson on film, I see him moving forward and playing strong safety in college. He flies to the football and puts his nose on the football on every play.

We’ll have more on Joe Gibson in the near future.
