The nation’s best kickers, punters, and long snappers gathered in Sherman Oaks, CA to mix it up at Chris Sailer Kicking’s “TOP 12” specialty camp this summer. After a long summer of attending camps at various colleges across the country hoping to land scholarship offers, it was time get together and compete against and learn amongst one another.
Those invited were the “TOP 12” underclassman, as selected from the 2005 3rd Annual National Kicking Competition (January) and Combine Invitees as selected from the 2005 3rd Annual National Kicking Combine (May). This is truly a camp made up of the best of the best this country has to offer as over 80% of previous invitees have gone on to earn scholarships at the Division 1 level. This years attendees were no exception.
The four-day, three-night camp made up of 24 kicking/punting and 9 long snapping participants took place at Notre Dame High School. The camp consisted of field sessions, classroom sessions, video analysis, and individual meetings. Players competed at the highest level, learned how to take their game to the next level, and most importantly became a fraternity of specialists that will remain friends and competitors for years to come. The upcoming 2005 season should be a special one for these athletes.
