"It was great, I was real excited and honored to be able to play in the game," says
A.J. Wallace
, who admits he may have been a little more excited when he first learned he would play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. "At first he told me I was nominated, and I thought 'that's good, that's one step.' Then they asked me if I wanted to play in the game, and then he said 'you have been asked to play in the game.' It was crazy from there; I had a hard time talking to him because he was exciting."
Wallace has watched the game each of the last two years, hoping for his chance to play himself. He did not realize that his announcement would take place in such an important place with the U.S. Army sponsoring the game.
"It means a lot where my dad works, it was an honor to have all those people to be able to come to it."
Wallace has a busy few months ahead of him. In addition to the honors and interviews upcoming thanks to this announcement, Wallace must be able to focus on his team and recruiting, which has picked up thanks to several visits.
"I have a top seven or top eight. Ohio State I already took that visit and it went great, then I have Florida State (10/1) and Nebraska (10/29)," he says, adding that Florida, Miami, LSU, and Oklahoma are battling for the last two official visit spots.
"I am in contact with Florida, so they are more than likely to get a visit, and I am not sure about the other visit."
