Keystone Back An Army All-American

Harrisburg, Pa. (September 15, 2005) LeSean McCoy of Harrisburg Bishop McDevitt High School has been named a 2006 U.S. Army All American. In a press conference held this afternoon at the Bishop McDevitt gymnasium, McCoy thanked his family, friends, teammates and the Lord for helping him to achieve this honor.

During the press conference, McDevitt head coach Jeff Weachter was extended an invitation to attend the U.S. Army coaches weekend and clinic, as well as the game. Weachter praised the Army for sponsoring the game, stating that he "thinks this event is something that was very much needed in high school football."

LeSean McCoy was humble greeting the media following the press conference, stating that the game would be, "a lot of fun, and a learning experience that he hopes he learns some things from." When asked how he felt about being selected, LeSean reflected, "It's early in the season, I wish this was later in the season, obviously we'll get it over with, and I'll live with the hype now and get it over with, and then just go out there and perform."

McCoy's press conference was attended by family and friends, as well as the entire Bishop McDevitt football team, and was punctuated by cheers and applause from those in attendance. Maryland bound quarterback Jeremy Ricker was also singled out as being an outstanding athlete of division I-A quality, as was WR/DB Aaron Berry. The Bishop McDevitt Crusaders carry the USA Today national number 11 ranking behind the strength of McCoy, Ricker, and Berry.

"There's nothing bad you can say about LeSean. He runs with speed, power and balance. He can cut on a dime. He catches the ball, he can pass block. He has amazing vision, he can see a hole develop cut back and he is gone. Plainly put, LeSean is a difference-maker and a potential franchise type player," said Scout.com.

McCoy is letting his recruiting take a back seat to his performance on the field this season, with no rush to make a decision. When asked about where he is right now, he says that he has narrowed the field to his top ten -- or twenty, and will soon narrow down his list to the top five, but claims that he does not plan to take official visits until after the season is over.

LeSean McCoy will represent the East squad as one of 80 U.S. Army All Americans participating in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl which will kick off on January 7th at 12:00 p.m. CST from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
