Wide receiver DeLaShaun Dean (6-4, 190, 4.6) from Fairfield (Calif.) has over 20 scholarship offers and has narrowed his choices to six. He favors Oregon slightly over Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, Washington and Nebraska. All have offered.
"I know a lot of people who go to Oregon and I'd like to play with my friends," Dean said. "That's a school that I've always kind of liked. I'm going to be setting up a visit with them soon."
Dean has already scheduled an official visit to Nebraska for September 30th and Washington in October. "Washington is recruiting me the hardest. They are keeping in contact with me on a daily basis through my coach, calls and letters. They seem to really want me.
"I like the whole coaching staff at Washington. I think coach Ty Willingham is really good and I'm sure he'll turn it around over there. I think he'll turn them into a strong program. My mom also really likes him."
"I also like the new coaches at Arizona because they keep it real with me and they are a young up and coming team," he said. "I like Arizona State because they already have a great team and have an amazing offense."
"Really I just want to make sure I feel comfortable wherever I go. I want to feel comfortable around the people and the location. I've only been to a few local schools so I can't really compare anything yet, but I'd like to make a decision by the end of October. I want to get it out of the way and my coach thinks it's a good idea I do it early too."
Fairfield is 0-2. Dean has 60 yds receiving and two touchdowns. He rushed five times for 86 yards and no scores.
He reports a 2.8 GPA and an 800 SAT, which he is retaking October 8th.
