Jones Joins West

Kilgore (Tex.) -- The Texas swing for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl tour starts with a very high profile player in Eddie Jones, a big defensive end from Kilgore High.

The classic East vs. West match-up will be played and televised live on NBC January 7th at 12:00 p.m. (CST) and will feature the top 78 prep football student-athletes in the country.

Eddie Jones is the number one ranked defensive end in the country by Scout.com. He is a member of the National Hot 100 as well as the Southwest Hot 100. At 6-2.5, 230 pounds, Jones is a dominating force from his defensive end position and makes plays with a motor that never stops.

"Brings a relentless work ethic and desire to the DE position. Given his size, kid projects to be nearing the 250+ pound range, making him more of a complete DE prospect (early in his career) than most true freshmen projecting as edge rushers. That's what sets him apart from most. Couple his size with the ability to play DE and you've got yourself a blue chip," says Stacey Dean of Scout.com.

Jones made 130 tackles as a junior for Kilgore and that helped to warrent offers from schools around the country. He is an early commitment to Texas, which currently has the top ranked recruiting class in the country.
