"Wisconsin is Big 10 football," said Colorado offensive lineman Ian Wolfe. "That's the biggest draw there for me. The location is good; it's not too far and not too close. I have met the guy who is going to be the new head coach next year, Coach (Bret) Bielema (defensive coordinator), and I get along with him. I think he will do a good job with the program..."

Offensive lineman Ian Wolfe (6-5, 270, 5.0) said he favors Wisconsin, Oregon and Kansas State. Colorado, Colorado State, Wyoming, Washington State and New Mexico State have also offered.

"I don't have one standout school right now, but three that are pretty much the same at the top of my list," said Wolfe, from Fort Collins High in Colorado. "I am still considering all of the schools that have offered. I haven't ruled anyone out.

"Stanford (no offer) is waiting for me to complete my application. If they were to offer, they would probably be up there with the other three at the top of my list. They have been one of the teams recruiting me the hardest and their coach (Tom Freeman, offensive line) has even been out to my school a couple of times. He and I have a good relationship.

"At Oregon, the location again plays a factor -- not too close, not too far," he said. "It's also a crazy football school. I guess Wisconsin is too. Both schools (Oregon and Wisconsin) have been recruiting me pretty hard.

"I had the opportunity to stop by Kansas State unofficially on my way back from a road trip toward the end of the summer. The coaches all came out to meet me. I met head coach (Bill) Snyder, Coach (Greg) Peterson (wide receivers), Coach (Bob) Stanley (offensive line) and a couple of the other coaches that just happened to be around. It was great. And there was a guy who was able to show me around, so I got a good feel for the campus."

His first official visit is to Wisconsin on Oct. 22. "Conflicts with my schedule and their (other colleges) schedules have me planning to set up other official visits after my season is over. That will likely be to Oregon, Kansas State and Washington State."

His father, former Ohio State basketball player Jack Wolfe, will accompany him on his trips. "He's just going as a kind of moral support. He's afraid that schools may pressure me to commit on my visit. He went through the same thing so he knows how to handle it.

"I have been to CU and Colorado State games so far this season, and I am going to a Wyoming game on Oct. 15. I am going to try to catch a Kansas State game as well."

Wolfe has been playing on both sides of the ball this season. "I have been playing defense about half the time." He has two sacks and nine tackles on the defensive line. "All of the schools are looking at me for the offensive line, which is good because I like that a lot better than defense."

Fort Collins (4-1) takes on Horizon High (Brighton) Oct. 8.
