"The University of Washington is at the top of my list because they are the only ones that are approaching me saying that I can play running back right away," said California running back Andre Harris. "I really want to play as a running back in college. The other schools are pretty much saying that I can be a running back, but I might not get to play right away as a freshman at some of the schools..."

Taft High School (Woodland Hills, Calif.) running back Andre Harris (6-0, 214, 4.6) said his top five schools are, "Washington, Southern California, Louisville, Arizona and San Diego State (only offer).

"Most schools haven't offered because they are all pretty much waiting for my SAT scores, which I am taking for the first time this weekend (Oct. 8)," Harris said. "They have been recruiting me heavily, so once I have those scores I know the offers will come. I should do well on the test, but if I don't I will just take it again until I am qualified. But I am confident in my test this weekend.

"The University of Washington is at the top of my list because they are the only ones that are approaching me saying that I can play running back right away. I really want to play as a running back in college. The other schools are pretty much saying that I can be a running back, but I might not get to play right away as a freshman at some of the schools.

"USC wants me as a running back as well, but I want to play as a true freshman," he said. "At USC, it is unlikely that may happen because they are deep right now in running backs. They are still up high on my list because they were showing interest in me when nobody else was and I respect that."

Harris attended a recent USC game to "see what a game was like at USC" and was impressed by the Trojans. "They're really good."

"Louisville has been calling and emailing quite a bit and I like their offense. I like how they use their running backs and how their quarterbacks like passing behind the back field. The whole team is good.

"Arizona is close to home and they are a team on the rise," Harris said. "They are getting good and I want to be a part of that.

"San Diego State is a smaller school, but they gave me my first offer. They really have to be in to you to step in and be the first to offer.

"The most important factor is that I am looking to play my freshman year as a running back."

Harris has tallied 546 rushing yards and seven TDs on 30 carries for the 4-0 Taft team. They meet Narbonne High tonight (Oct. 7) at home.
