DURHAM, N.C. (October 31, 2005) --- Recognized as one of the top football
players in the nation, Carl Johnson of Durham, N.C., has been named a 2006 U.S.
Army All-American. Johnson will join a stand-out list of athletes playing in the
U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Alamodome in San
Antonio, Texas.
The classic East vs. West match-up will be played and televised live on NBC
January 7th at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and will feature the top 78 prep football
student-athletes in the country.
Johnson was a standout at the Scout.com Combine held in Durham, N.C. in April, and his hard work has paid off with a selection to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
"Carl's a huge lineman that is light on his feet for his size. He just
absolutely dominates defenders on the high school level," according to
Miller Safrit, East Scout for Scout.com.
Johnson ended his recruitment early with a commitment to the Florida Gators.
Johnson is a standout offensive lineman at Southern High School and was one of
400 players nominated nationally and one of 78 selected to participate by the
U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee.
