Prep Schools Take The Stage

Defense and offensive linemen are the strong point this year with postgraduate prep school programs. With Chatham, Va. Hargrave Military Academy rotating in two-deep defensive line that contains three players rated as five star prospects, a four star defensive end, and a three star defensive end, it is no wonder why over 100 college coaches will be in attendance at next week's combine.

Though the Scout.com Post Graduate Top 40 lists 31 players already committed, the depth is very apparent. Five players have earned five star status, led by Callahan Bright, who was the number two defensive tackle coming out of high school and has reaffirmed his commitment to Florida State.

"To watch the Hargrave defense is pretty amazing," said East Coast recruiting analyst Miller Safrit. "There may not be a more athletic, but physical linebacker in the nation than Darius Dewberry. He simply flies to the ball and knows what to do when he gets there."

Fork Union Military Academy, the ulitmate rival for the highly talented Hargrave team, came close to winning the annual matchup. It is led on the list by Virginia Tech commitment Todd Nolen, one of the top wide receivers in Virginia last year.

"Don't sleep on Jacoby Ford either," Safrit said. "He is a true gamebreaker if he can find the right system."

Marques Slocum showed at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio that he has what it takes to be a tremendous defensive tackle, and the Michigan commitment's play this year at New Berlin, N.Y. Milford Prep has been exceptional.
