| 2007 Texas CB has a short list | ||||

Port Arthur Memorial cornerback Barry Valcin is not your typical cover corner. He's aggressive and tenacious and receivers that do manage to catch the ball on his watch are going to pay dearly. | ||||

Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial cornerback Barry Valcin attended the U.S. Army All-American combine in San Antonio a few weeks ago and turned in an impressive performance, particularly in the one on one drills. College recruiters certainly know of his abilities as well. "I am getting mail from Houston, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Florida State and Kansas pretty reguarly," Valcin said. "I think I did pretty well at the combine. I wasn't totally satisfied with how I tested, but I think I did real well in the one on one's." The 5-foot-11, 174-pound Valcin has the speed and agility, but he says thats not what his game is all about. "I'm a real physical player. I love to play the bump and run. I cover guys pretty well, but I'm just a real physical player, I try not to let guys off the line and then they are really going to have to work to get open on me, which doesn't happen very much." In the early stages of his recruitment Valcin has a small, modest list of teams, but it could grow. "Texas, Florida State and Nebraska are the schools that I am looking at right now. I have always liked those schools and I want to visit them at some point and see what they are all about. I don't plan on committing early because I want to check things out and see whats out there." Though the process is still young for Valcin he has an idea of what he is looking for in a school. "I want to go somewhere with some tradition that I know is going to win a lot of games while I am there. Of course I want to make sure that I get a good education. I would like to play early in my career, but I know that is something that I have to work for." |
