Clarendon defensive end LeDez Captain is already hearing from college coaches around the country. He has the chance to be a big time prospect, but will he even play football his senior year?
"I'm not sure he is even going to play football next year," Clarendon head coach Gary Jack said. "I haven't talked to him about it, but I've heard he may have just decided to concentrate on basketball."
Captain is a 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end that has the perfect frame to play on the next level.
"I hope he hasn't given up on football. I don't think basketball is his ticket, but I think he can go a lot of places for football. There are tons of guys his size playing basketball, but he's got ideal size for what you look for in a football player."
Jack stated that Captain is still really raw, but has a world of potential.
"He's a great kid, real sir and no sir. He's a model student and has never been in serious trouble in his life. I'm just not sure where his heart is in terms of football."
Certainly Jack hopes that Captain does not give up on the game and concentrate on basketball.
"He's getting a million letters a day, I hope that motivates him to realize what potential he has. I'm definitely going to do my best to encourage him not to quit football."
