Big Fish - QB/S Jeff Lindsay, 6-foot-4, 220, 4.5, Macomb (Mich.) L’Anse Creuse North.
Lindsay is a tremendous athlete that gave his verbal commitment to the Boilermakers during his junior season. Although the Boilermakers struggled on the field, Lindsay never wavered in his commitment. Jeff is a super quarterback, with great size and excellent speed. He’d like to play quarterback at the next level but he did tell Scout.com that he will probably end up at safety or linebacker. Michigan State, Illinois, Wisconsin and Bowling Green all offered a scholarship. LSU showed a lot of interest. We’ll be hearing plenty from Jeff Lindsay in the near future.
Players To Watch - Purdue backed into the commitment of Kyle Sheehan. Sheehan, originally from Georgia, transferred up to a small school (Fairmont) in Minnesota and was completely dominant in 2005. Sheehan, the No. 2 rated, defensive tackle, in the Midwest according to Scout.com, chose Purdue for several reasons including the fact that his grandfather was a two-time All-American for the Boilermakers. This was a fact that the Purdue staff didn’t know. Sheehan committed during his junior season and although Ohio State came in during his senior season, Sheehan signed with the Boilers after Christmas.
RB Deon Williams, RB, 6-0, 200, 4.5, Rockford (Ill.) Guilford
LB John Humphrey, LB, 6-1, 210, 4.5, Youngstown (Ohio) Liberty
LB Kevin Green, LB/FB, 6-2, 210, 4.6, North Chicago, Ill.
One That Got Away - QB/WR Christian Caflisch, 6-2, 180, 4.5, San Antonio (Texas) Madison.
Caflisch, a hidden gem in the Lone Star State, verbally committed to Purdue when the Boilermakers offered a scholarship before his senior season. Caflisch parlayed a great week in San Antonio at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl into a scholarship offer from Texas A&M. Caflisch decided to stay closer to home and he accepted the Aggies offer.
