One of the nation’s finest defensive tackle prospects is John Brown from Lakeland (Fla.) High School. Brown, 6-1 and 285 pounds, plays for arguably the country’s top high school football team and they are currently on a 30 game winning streak and two straight state championships. They bring a ton of talent back and Mr. Brown has been and will be working on things he knows he needs to get better at.
“I can always get faster, strong and quicker off the ball,” said Brown. “And those are the things I will be working on. I think I am a strong and powerful player now and I do I have good speed. I play the run well and I love to rush the passer. People around here compare my game to Warren Sapp.”
According to Brown, he now has written scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Alabama and Nebraska. But it’s one of the in-state powers that has grabbed his early attention.
“Right now my favorite team is Florida State,” proclaimed Brown. “I really like the coaches and I have a bunch of friends there.
“I also like Miami, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. “I love the defensive team speed at Miami and their style of play. Florida has a good overall team and I like their defense. Alabama, like Miami, has great team speed on defense. Georgia always seems to find a way to win and they produce some good d-linemen and they play together.”
At this time Brown would like to attend some college camps this summer but he has yet to select any. He bench presses 400 pounds, squats 380 and power cleans 275.
