Focus 2007 - OL Adam Gettis

There’s a prospect in Illinois that certainly has been receiving plenty of attention lately and his name is Adam Gettis, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound, offensive lineman, from Lincoln-Way East high in Frankfort, Ill. Gettis attended the U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio and he will also be in attendance at the Scout.com All-American Combine at the University of Iowa on April 22nd.

“I don’t have any offers yet but I’m getting a ton of hand-written mail.” Adam Gettis said.

“Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue and North Carolina are recruiting me the hardest right now. I get hand-written letters from those schools just about every week.

“My favorites are Iowa, North Carolina, Illinois, Purdue, Wisconsin and Indiana. It’s early. I want to see what happens in the spring. I should have a better idea of who has a real interest in me by June.”

Gettis was moved up to the varsity as a sophomore and started at center. This past season, Adam was moved outside to tackle and he says that he feels comfortable anywhere along the offensive line.

“I think I’m pretty versatile,” Gettis said. “I have the intelligence to play center, the athletic ability to pull and trap as a guard and the speed to play tackle.”

Gettis did play on both sides of the football as a junior and he had four sacks as a defensive lineman. Adam helped lead Lincoln-Way East to their first state championship this past season.

Gettis also comes from very good blood lines. His cousins are former U.S. Army All-American David Gettis and Pittsurgh Steelers wide receiver Antwaan Randle El.
