Profile 2003 - Emmanuel Byers (WR)
Emmanuel Byers is a standout athlete for a powerful Ragsdale team in
Jamestown, NC that went 13-1 last year and looks to make a good run at
the finals again this year. "We return about 14 starters,"
said Byers. "So we should have a pretty good team." Byers is a
big reason why Ragsdale looks to make another run. He plays both sides
of the ball and had over 800 yards receiving last year to go with 7
interceptions on defense. "I play wide receiver and corner for
our team, but everyone is recruiting me to play wide receiver. I've
already been to the Wake Forest camp, and I'm going to North Carolina,
and Virginia later this summer." Byers has an impressive list of
scholarship offers early in the process, and he has offers from each of
his favorite teams. "I like Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech,
North Carolina, Clemson, and Georgia right now. They're all pretty much
even." Byers not only has excellent straight ahead speed, he's
extremely quick, which makes him doubly dangerous once he has the ball
in his hands. His 4.3 shuttle time at the Nike Camp in North Carolina is
proof of his quickness.
