Weaver is a Two-Way Star for Harper Creek
Midwest Recruiting Analyst
Posted Mar 15, 2006
Battle Creek, Mich., is home to one of the top tight end prospects in the Midwest. Rocky Weaver, a 6-foot-6, 220-pounder, from Harper Creek high has been a varsity starter on both sides of the football since his freshman year. Weaver projects as a tight end in college but could also play defensive end.
is an outstanding athlete,” said Harper Creek coach Ed Greenman.
“He [Weaver] plays wide receiver for us but he’s a tight end at the next level. Rocky has great hands, he moves extremely well for his size and he’s athletic.
“Rocky won’t dazzle you with his straight-line speed but his yards-after-catch is what separates him from others. He’s just a tough, hard-nosed football player.”
Weaver had 1,025 yards receiving in 2005 and he scored 12 touchdowns. He was named all-state by the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News.
“Rocky is also a very good defensive end,” Coach Greenman added. “He’s got good range, long arms and he knows how to get to the football.”
Weaver recorded 46 tackles and six sacks on the defensive side of the football. We asked Coach Greenman if he could touch on the recruitment of Weaver.
came to watch him play last year and
invited him to like four games last year.” Greenman said.
“There are no offers right now but Michigan,
, Notre Dame and most of the Big Ten schools seem really interested. Rock is also a starter on the basketball team and he plays on traveling teams. Once he starts to concentrate on football, he’ll become a force.”
We’ll have comments from Rocky Weaver in the near future.
