Profile 2003 - Stanley McClover (DE)
Stanley
McClover may be the best defensive end in the nation.
His physical ability is unquestionable. At 6-4 and 236 pounds with a
personal best 4.5 forty, McClover is breathtakingly quick. He is camping
at several schools this summer to hone his technique and harness is unbelievable
physical potential. "I was at Auburn this Saturday and
Sunday," said McClover. "I'm going to NC State, Florida, LSU,
Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Florida State later this summer." Considered
a raw prospect because of his unlimited athletic ability, one can tell
that McClover is starting to learn technique too. In a recent camp in
which McClover was going through one on one pass rush drills, McClover
went inside and outside on his man without being touched. He made it
once on pure speed around the edge and once after a quick head fake
duped the helpless tackle to the outside. McClover's enthusiasm is
infectious as well. He's the type of player that truly looks to be
having fun on the football field. Playing with a broad smile, McClover
is constantly congratulating and encouraging teammates as well. McClover
will be on the short list of many teams in the nation, but he has not
yet begun to narrow his list down. "I like Auburn, LSU, NC State,
Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Clemson the best right
now." McClover has all of the tools to be a star no matter where he
chooses.
