School Preferences: Vanderbilt Commitment
Vanderbilt got their recruiting season off to a good start this year with a commitment from BorderWars 101 Team member Marcus Dixon. Dixon is big and quick. He likes the to play defensive end, but he may be headed for tackle at the next level.
"I like defensive end," said Dixon. "No one has really talked to me about moving inside yet, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. I'm excited about going to Vanderbilt. They're the only school I'm going to visit this summer. I have a camp here where I teach kids how to play basketball. That keeps me pretty busy. I may take some official visits later in the season."
Predictably, several fans across the south have have wondered if the Dixon commitment will stick through signing day. Dixon just laughs. "Yeah, I hear that all the time too. I picked Vanderbilt because I want to be part of a turning the program around. I think it will be that much more special going to a bowl game after knowing where they've been in the past. Plus, I'll get a Vanderbilt education while still playing in the SEC. I'm pretty solid with Vanderbilt."
Every team likes to get off to a fast start and build momentum. Vanderbilt did just that with the big verbal commitment from Marcus Dixon. He is not only one of the best defensive linemen in the south, he is a top notch person as well.
