Kendrick Bruton, the younger brother of Notre Dame defensive back David Bruton, is starting to make a name for himself in the Buckeye State. Kendrick is a 6-foot-2, 205-pounder, from Miamisburg. Bruton talks about his brother, his uncle and his early favorites.
“David (Bruton) really likes it at Notre Dame,”
Ken Bruton
said.
“The only thing he said he didn’t like was the early practices. Sometimes he has to get up around 5:30am. I really haven’t heard anything from Notre Dame so that’s why I haven’t listed them as one of my favorites.
“I have an offer from
Akron
and my coach said that
Cincinnati
got in touch with him and he feels that they could be close to offering.
“My favorites are
Iowa
,
Wisconsin
,
Ohio State
,
Boston College
,
Pittsburgh
,
Indiana
and
Michigan State
.”
Bruton was moved up to the varsity as a sophomore but saw limited action due to an injury. This past season, was Kendrick’s first full season of varsity football and he made the most of it.
Bruton played tight end and wide receiver, he had 200 yards receiving on only nine catches. On the defensive side of the ball, Bruton had 54 solo tackles and five sacks. Which position does Bruton feel he’ll play at the next level?
“Some colleges are thinking wide receiver and some are thinking linebacker.” Bruton said.
“If you ask me what I want to play, it would be wide receiver. I’ve got speed, I run crisp routes and I’ve got good hands. I’m working hard on my concentration. It’s my goal to catch everything thrown my way.”
Where do the Bruton brothers get their athleticism?
“We have an uncle who played at Moorehead State and he set like three rushing records. That’s where I feel that my brother and I have gotten our athletic ability. We definitely got the speed from him.”
Does Kendrick Bruton have any spring and summer camp plans?
“I’m going to camp at Michigan, Ohio State and Pittsburgh.” Bruton said. “I’m also signed up for the Scout.com All-American Combine at
Louisville
on May 20th.”
Kendrick Bruton carries a 2.5 core GPA in the classroom.
