Running Back Lance
Ball is ranked the #19 back in the entire nation on TheInsiders.com network,
and he has made up his mind on where he wants to go to college. "I'm going
to be a Terp," said Ball of Maryland. "I went down there a couple of
weeks ago, and I just had a gut feeling. They're a good team and a it's a good
situation."
Ball chose Maryland over a host of other schools including Georgia, Boston
College, UCF, and Notre Dame. "I'm not going to any more summer camps, and
I'm not sure about my official visits. I'm going to go to Maryland for sure, but
I don't know after that."
Ball is a big back with incredible quickness. Like most standout backs, he
didn't get to catch the ball much in high school, but he said his hands are one
of the things that Maryland likes the most about him. "They said they were
looking for a big back that can catch, and I can catch the ball well." Ball
had over 1,600 yards rushing on 170 carries and 23 touchdowns. At better than
9.4 yards per carry, there isn't a need to throw him the ball. It's a skill that
will be utilized to its fullest in the Maryland offense though.
Lance Ball is a tremendous pickup for Maryland, and he will help keep the
positive momentum going that they obtained with last year's breakout season.
