Profile 2007 - OL Dennis Ziegler

Ziegler Hits the Weights!

Dennis Ziegler, a 6-foot-7, 310-pound, offensive lineman, from Pike High in Indianapolis, Ind., has left the hardwood behind and is now one of the top prospects in the Hoosier State. Ziegler has a Big Ten offer but there's one school that he says he'd commit to in a second if they offered a scholarship.

"I'm originally from Gainesville and I'd commit to Florida if they offered today." Dennis Ziegler told Scout.com

"My mom and my sister are Florida State fans so I'd have to put Florida State up there but Florida would definitely be my leader.

"Indiana has offered me a scholarship and Purdue is starting to show a lot of interest. My favorites right now are Florida, Florida State, Texas, Michigan, Purdue and Indiana."

Ziegler played Pop Warner football as a youngster but he had visions of being a hoops star when he entered Pike but that changed when he had a talk with some classmates.

"I knew a few guys on the team and they kind of got in my ear a little bit." Ziegler explained.

"This past year was my first year playing high school football and I loved it. I played defensive tackle but I'll be moving over to the offensive line next year.

"I like the Idea of playing on the offensive line. The college coaches have been telling me that my future is on the offensive line and I like the fact that on offense, I'm going to get the chance to hit someone and pancake people on every play."

Ziegler said he's not sure on which camps he'll be attending this summer but he does want to attend some one-day camps.
