Scout.com is getting ready to release ranking for the Class of 2007 prospects. The state of Michigan is loaded with talent this year watching hours upon hours of film, it would be hard for me to believe that there’s a better prospect in the Wolverine State than Detroit’s Cedric Everson. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder, from Mumford High School has a boat-load of scholarship offers and he could be making a decision in early June.
“Cedric has scholarship offers from Florida, Florida State, Miami,
Michigan
, Michigan State,
Georgia Tech
, Minnesota, Iowa, Purdue,
UCLA
,
USC
, Purdue,
North Carolina
,
Ohio State
and Washington.” Said
Cedric Everson
Sr., father of Cedric Everson.
“I know there’s a lot more offers, I just can’t think of all of them right now. Every Big Ten school has offered a scholarship
“We’re getting real close to a decision. I’m taking Cedric out to Los Angeles at the end of the month to visit UCLA and USC. We plan on making a commitment in June.
“Cedric has his schools narrowed down to 10 schools but I’d say that the main players right now are
Penn State
, UCLA, USC, Georgia Tech and Ohio State.”
Cedric Everson is a terrific athlete. He’ll be a four-year starter in 2006. He plays cornerback and wide receiver for Mumford and he projects as a cornerback at the next level.
Everson has incredible ball instincts and he’s not afraid of contact and he’ll put his helmet on the ball-carriers numbers. Cedric also has tremendous speed and explosiveness out of his back pedal.
Everson is also one of the top sprinters in the state of Michigan and he uses that track speed returning punts, kicks and interceptions.
As a junior, Everson had 1,610 all-purpose yards, scoring 18 touchdowns on the season. Cedric had 90 tackles and 12 interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. Seven interceptions were returned for touchdowns, four of the touchdowns were from 98, 92, 76 and 78 yards.
Everson has played running back, wide receiver, cornerback and safety at Mumford. The lucky school that receives Cedric’s letter-of-intent in February, is getting a talented athlete that has the ability to make an instant impact at the next level.
We’ll have film available of Cedric Everson in the near future.
