Profile 2003 - Dane Zaslaw (LB)
One of the top linebackers from the Big 12 region is Dane Zaslaw from Edmund (Ok.) Memorial High School. Zaslaw, 6-2 and 240 pounds, plays middle linebacker. Last season as a junior, he recorded 121 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 interception. He also plays fullback and tailback. "I am a rough and physical player," said Zaslaw. "That is my nature on the field. I am a hard hitter, I stuff the run and play the pass pretty well. I think I am a pretty well rounded linebacker." According to Zaslaw, he has scholarship offers from over dozen schools including Oklahoma, Texas A&M and LSU. "Right now, my favorites are Oklahoma, A&M, LSU and Miami. I am pretty open between those guys. I think Miami will offer this season once they see my play. They are recruiting me very hard and they said they are coming out. The other three have offered. I am looking at linebacker tradition. I also want to go somewhere to win some games and a national championship. I am also looking at life after football." Zaslaw camped this summer at Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and Miami. Zaslaw is a strong player as well. He bench presses 365, squats over 600 and power cleans 300. He also carries a 3.6 grade point average and has already scored a 20 on the ACT.
