Hunter Commits To Clemson

Stanley Hunter, one of the top players in South Carolina for the class of 2007, committed to the Clemson Tigers coaching staff last week and now the Duncan, S.C. linebacker is ready to announce that decision.

"I'm a Clemson Tiger, you can go ahead and put that out for me," said the 6-foot, 205-pound linebacker who also plays defensive end for Byrnes High.

While he is ready to say he is a Tiger, Hunter still wants to have a formal press conference next week.

"I don't know exactly how it is going to go for sure, but it is going to be Tuesday."

However, there is no wavering in Hunter's commitmetn to Clemson as he felt that it was the right place for him through the years of meeting and developing a relationship with the Tiger coaches.

"It is just a big family down there, and it has always been a dream growing in South Carolina to play for either Clemson or South Carolina. As I got older, Clemson stuck out more than any other offers that I had on the table. Of course, I don't mind playing with Willy (Korn) again, either."

Hunter's ability to play defensive end and linebacker helped in his receiving an offer from Clemson, and the Tigers came up with a scheme to best use Hunter's ability off the edge.

"I fit into defense very well as an outside linebacker. The main thing they want me to do is to put some pressure on the ball. I am good with taking on the big blockers."
