West Islip, N.Y., quarterback Ike Iloegbu has been gaining a lot of interest in recent weeks. The 6-foot-1, 185- pound Iloegbu had offers from Temple and Stony Brook earlier in May and recently picked up another written offer. “Colorado offered me the other day,” Iloegbu said. “They had been talking to me a little bit about offering and then today I got it in the mail.”
Iloegbu has also been hearing of some interest from North Carolina State, Auburn, and several other ACC schools. Iloegbu does have a clear-cut list of favorites as well. “My top three right now are Colorado, North Carolina State, and Auburn,” Iloegbu said.
“I like North Carolina State because they have a really good program and great athletes. The coaches really seem to take an interest in helping you with football as well as life in general,” Iloegbu said. “I have talked to their coaches a lot and they have mentioned offering a few times so hopefully they will offer.”
“I also like Colorado because they have a program I can work off of,” Iloegbu said. “I think that the new coach should be able to turn it around over there and get them to a good bowl game and hopefully win it. I really hadn’t thought much about Colorado until they offered and I started to think about how I fit in out there,” Iloegbu said. “I guess if I go play out there I will have to learn how to ski (laughing).”
“Finally, I like Auburn a lot because my brother was a big fan and we used to watch them on TV a lot,” Iloegbu said. “When I heard from Auburn I was really excited. I always liked watching them and I really got into them when Carlos Rogers and Cadillac Williams were there. I am excited by Auburn because I don’t think they have had someone with my abilities as a scrambling quarterback to make things happen with my feet on 3rd downs and all that.”
Iloegbu does have one concern about his recruitment. “I made a deal with my cousin Obi Ezemma that we would hopefully go to the same school whether it is Temple, North Carolina State, or wherever,” Iloegbu said. “We both have D-I talent so it helps a school if they offer both of us together.”
