The Georgia Tech coaching staff has spent a lot of time recruiting in Texas for the class of 2007 and it's starting to pay off as they recently picked up their first commitment from the Lone Star State.
Houston Langham Creek wide receiver Tyler Melton committed to the Yellow Jacket coaching staff over the weekend.
"I committed to Tech yesterday," Melton said. "It feels great to have all of this behind me and as far as I am concerned I am done and won't take any other trips. I just want to focus on my senior year now."
As a junior Melton reeled in 70 catches for 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns.
"Education was a huge factor for me," Melton said. "I want to go into engineering and Tech has the fourth best program in the country for that. I really liked the coaching staff, I really like Atlanta and I have family there."
As a junior Melton earned second team all-state honors as well as all-district and all-region honors.
"I had offers from Rice, Louisiana Tech, Air Force and Iowa State too, but I just felt like Tech was the best place for me," Melton said. "I visited there and I loved it."
