California 2007 Preseason Rankings: QBs
Jimmy Clausen
Jimmy Clausen West
Posted Aug 24, 2006

California is home to the nation's top quarterback, but Jimmy Clausen isn't the only touted signal-caller to call the Golden State home, with another five-star prospect, Aaron Corp, standing atop the state rankings.

The quarterbacks in California are obviously led by Clausen, the nation’s top prospect at the position, but Corp is a five-star product and a gifted player in his own right. Forcier is the best prospect in San Diego and Szakascy gives USC two of the top four players in the state. Stangel and Fouch, while a bit undersized, have impressive resumes and are both efficient passers. Murdaca is the best quarterback in the northern part of the state. Klein is a talented pitcher and Longshore, while short on experience is big on upside.

1. Jimmy Clausen, 6-3, 195, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Committed to: Notre Dame
A huge talent and the top QB prospect in the nation.

2. Aaron Corp, 6-4, 185, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran
Committed to: USC
Strong arm, great size and excellent mobility.

3. Chris Forcier, 6-3, 175, San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine
Committed to: UCLA
Might be most athletic quarterback in the West.

4. Samson Szakacsy, 6-5, 195, Camarillo (Calif.)
Committed to: USC
Good poise in the pocket and as accurate as they come.

5. Chasen Stangel, 6-2, 185, San Jacinto (Calif.)
Committed to: UTEP
Sees the field well and should thrive in Mike Price’s system.

6. Ronnie Fouch, 6-2, 185, Redlands (Calif.) East Valley
Committed to: Washington
One of the most polished quarterbacks, is recovered from shoulder injury.

7. Dan Klein, 6-3, 190, Anaheim (Calif.) Servite
Already committed to UCLA for baseball, could open up recruitment for football.

9. Pete Murdaca, 6-2, 190, Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary’s
Northern California’s best, Murdaca had a great summer and is poised for a big year.

9. Ryan Lindley, 6-4, 205, Lakeside (Calif.) El Capitan
Love his size and game will improve as he becomes more polished.

10. Ben Longshore, 6-3, 195, Canyon Country (Calif.) Canyon
Already has the size and the bloodlines, this year has the chance to star.
