This past weekend I verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati," Poland told Student Sports. "For
some time, UC has been my top choice for a lot of different reasons - the coaches, the opportunity to play, its proximity to home, and the fact that they are an up-and-coming program."
The Bearcats were the first school to offer Poland recently, but he was also being hotly pursued by Pittsburgh, Boston College and West Virginia, along with quite a few MAC schools.
"Even though I could have waited for other offers, I decided to committ to UC
because it has been my top choice for a while and I really don't feel the
need to see how many offers I can get before committing," said Poland of his decision.
Last fall as a junior, Poland caught 39 passes for 714 yards (18.3 yards per catch) for five touchdowns. The lanky wideout has a nice combination of size, speed and leaping ability to go with his soft hands.
Poland carries a 3.6 GPA and has already scored a 1060 on the SAT.
