California 2007 Preseason Rankings: RBs

One of the deepest and most talented crops of running backs California has had in recent years is headlined by Marc Tyler, one of the best big backs to ever play in the Golden State.

The class of 2007 may have one of the deepest pools of running backs in California in some time, and could rival the 2003 class (Reggie Bush, Chauncey Washington and Maurice Drew) as the most talented. Tyler is the best big back nationally and one of the finest to come out of SoCal in years. Carter continues to grow and is the top back in Los Angeles. Lewis could play a number of positions while Johnson is a gifted prospect. Vereen is also a stellar cornerback but will carry the ball in college. Best, Griffin and Shaw form a strong NorCal trio.

Bear fans will love this speedy, shifty running back.

6. Aaron Harris, 5-10, 180, Baldwin Park (Calif.)
Set to shatter all of former Nebraska star Lawrence Phillips’ Baldwin Park records.

7. Jahvid Best, 5-10, 185, Richmond (Calif.) Salesian
Arguably the fastest football player in the West.

8. Curtis Shaw, 5-11, 190, Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln
Super-productive ball carrier is one of NorCal’s top players

9. Willie Griffin, 5-8, 190, Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds
Finally gets his chance to be the Warriors top back.

10. James Davis, 5-9, 172, Monrovia (Calif.)
If fall is as good as his summer, his stock will continue to rise.
